They quote Mat. 23:9 all the time "Do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly one." That was to take care of the Catholics.

But they never read the verses before or after.

Verse 8: Do not you be called Rabbi, for one is your teacher, wheresa all you are brothers.

Verse 10: Neither be called 'leaders,' for your Leader is one, the Christ.

Even their own interpretation of 144,000-only-anointed breaks down under their GB "theocratic arrangement":

Rev 14:4 says that the 144,000 follow the Lamb wherever he goes. But the GB demands that the non-GB anointed must follow them when they direct them to just as the R&F have to.

None of these scriptures moved the elders when I brought them up before I left.

here on jehovahs-witness.net i have come across theists, atheists and those that are agnostic that all claim to be friends because they're ex-witnesses like it is all that is needed for religious unity.. .

because every atheist i've talked to believes jehovah's witnesses are just another organization of stupid adults with imaginary friends, just a splinter of mainstream christianity a lot like the branch davidians.

she is seen threatening or attempting to hit a law enforcement officer who was doing his duty.

We lived in Nebraska years ago and my husband often used the family car for small animal hauling(besides the children). He got pulled over for something driving our busted -up Maverick and the cop wanted to see his vehicle registration. We always kept it clipped to the driver's sun visor. But it wasn't there and when my husband told the cop why--"My goat ate it" he quickly regretted telling the whole truth to that cop.

I think that is what your comment was saying. If that is what you are saying , then I agree that It doesn't make sense.

But B, I think that I have a hard time believing the bad stories I hear about God now. I discovered that God is kind. Jesus called him "Father" and Jesus said he learned everything from his Father. So I think that everyone else maybe has the wrong idea about god. I think I will listen to Jesus instead. That makes me happy and Jesus said it makes God happy. Holy spirit will help us understand.

At least that is what I am doing to help me straighten up my confusion from being around religious story-tellers. They might have some things right --but who knows but God?

I am happy to hear what you are doing. I hope you will report the outcome of your questions to the elders so that JWs who come on this site and those who lurk can benefit from your experience.

When I had a Bible problem the response that followed when I took this to the elders opened a whole new world of questions.

As a private individual I would punch or do whatever I had to if attacked. This was not a private altercation. If I had behaved even a little bit like this at home, my Dad would have decked me. And I would have known why and learned. But this school has had other problems like this. This is a bigger problem than a punch can fix. And it may even make the basic problem worse.

But here's what I don't understand: The city police were long aware that there was a critical problem with jay-walking there. The officer didn't have a random traffic stop and a guy with a deer rifle. This jay-walking problem was a situation with a long history. He lived in Seattle and knew the kind of issues (that we can find doing a google search) at Franklin High School where these kids all came from. Think about it. Punching the kid is just pissing an ocean of trouble there like it is in a lot of inner-city schools. Do I think it's going to turn those girls' lives around--no. They're just alittle harder today than they were before this happened.

If they have DROVES of kids crossing there they've got kids that don't care about the law. Do you know how much these girls probably fight and punch each other in the face--probably plenty. That video shows me girls acting like WWF characters. If you talk to girls like that (these had rap sheets going already) their weekends frolics are probably a series of illegal acts. And now there's this: someone above posted that the punch was announced as an overreaction of the officer. Holy shit--I won't want to cover that beat now--especially if I were that officer.

Great outcome?

I'm going to say it again: The girls needed to be taken down-Hard. I suggest viewing a video of a volatile scenario like this one at an Orlando, FL high school last Friday. Police called in on a fight where such a mob had gathered that no one stepped aside for them or listened to them after they tackled one student. They whipped out pepper spray and it totally dispersed the crowd. Gave kids rashes and a lot of pain in their eyes and throats. Highly effective.

Lesson learned for all.

Police ARE public servants dealing with some sudden and terrible craziness. But I think we need to step back and reflect that the problems are bigger than ourselves. This isn't an Andy Griffith world where he might have punched her, too, And Aunt Bee might have explained to her why she got treated like that. I think Andy would have been smart enough to use pepper spray if he had been there in Seattle.

A security guard I know who didn't have options other than his size and strength said that there were ways to defuse situations and ways to aggravate a person. There are ways to humiliate as well. If a guy in the club is mouthy or gets under your skin, there are ways to deal with him that are personally gratifying--and slightly over-the-top.

There is no doubt that these girls exhibited actions that showed that they were flouting the cop's authority, they behaved in a menacing manner, but not like they were out for his blood.

Tasers can be really violent for taking someone down. Maybe he didn't want to do that. Pepper spray is pretty good for these situations, I've read, it's been used on school kids.

As many jay-walkers as they have had at that site, you'd think the officer had thought about a plan "B" for resistant teens. If punching in the face is his first choice, it's a poor one.

A punch in the face is more than defensive, it is personal insulting and risky. It doesn't always "settle" a situation.

Why not pepper spray? This looked like a bad blood deal to me. The girls were/are clearly on the road to jail and prison. But still, looking at the scene, yeah, the cop won't be in trouble--- but he needs to ask himself what was up that he didn't just whip out some spray, why was his weapon of choice his fist in the person's face.
